Where the Chemistry Happens…

BASF’s Environmental Catalysis Research department is responsible for the design and development of catalysts and adsorbents for the treatment and purification of emission gases from mobile (e.g., cars, motorcycles.) and stationary (power plants) sources. This position, based in Iselin, NJ, resides in a group within Environmental Catalysts Research that specializes in catalyst experimentation and computer modeling. S/he will provide environmental catalysis modeling support, both locally and globally when needed.

The successful candidate will be responsible for kinetic experimentation and development of transport-kinetic models for environmental catalyst systems. The researcher will utilize these models and modeling software to support R&D projects and customer programs. The person in this role must also effectively collaborate with other R&D personnel, business colleagues, and OEM customers to develop innovative solutions to emissions control challenges. This position is also responsible for understanding developments in emissions control systems technology, determining internal partner and external customer modeling needs, and developing new software technology and modeling approaches..

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

· A Ph.D. in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with 0-2 years of industrial or post-doctoral experience in kinetic and/or reactor modeling of heterogeneous catalyst systems required

· Advanced knowledge in chemical kinetics, transport phenomena, and thermodynamics applied to heterogeneous catalysis preferred.

· Experience in kinetic experimentation preferred

· Experience in data analysis, and model development and application, as well as a background in the design and programming of simulation software.

· Must have good interpersonal and communication skills and work well in a team environment.

· Initiative and a strong drive for results while maintaining a focus on safety and quality.
