The Product Stewardship Leader is responsible for defining, deploying and executing the regulatory strategy within the Dispersions & Resins Business and Manufacturing network. This individual will also be expected to provide support to customers, marketing, R&D, sales, and quality management while working cooperatively with the North America Regulatory hub and our global business partners. This position leads the development of processes to ensure that accurate and current data is available from manufacturing, Analytical Service, and R&D to support specific business compliance and environmental certifications. This individual is responsible for leading and developing a team of Product Stewards and Regulatory Specialist to answer specific questions customers and distributors have regarding products. The role sits in Charlotte, NC or Southfield, MI and reports to the Quality & Continuous Improvement Manager. The incumbent must ensure that systems and processes are in place to meet North America regulatory requirements for the commercial teams and manufacturing. This includes providing required training and awareness of laws and regulations. Support of customer regulatory needs is critical for sustainably and growth of our business. The incumbent must develop and monitor appropriate KPIs to monitor effectiveness of these activities. The incumbent must have the ability to work across the top levels of the Dispersions, Resins and Additives Business to implement initiatives needed to drive continuous improvement and able to communicate our systems capabilities and philosophies to our customers.

Formula for Success: You Will…

  • Lead and Develop the Dispersions & Resins Stewardship Strategy, working directly with the Global Team and focused on key customers.
  • Lead the Product Stewardship Team to ensure alignment with business and manufacturing team objectives.
  • Lead the implementation of Global methods, systems and processes to directly support our customers and growth strategy.
  • Supervise and develop the Product Stewards and Regulatory Specialist within the group.
  • Lead the Regulatory Customer Request program.
  • Lead and advise the Regulatory Hub on matters such as REACH, Food Contact, Regulatory Information Sheets, and product registrations to ensure business concerns are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Ensures that appropriate regulatory requirements are met and regulatory impacts are addressed during the new product development process.
  • Maintains expert knowledge and interprets specific regulatory issues that impacts products and markets within Dispersions & Resins business.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

  • BS Degree in Chemistry, Biology, or other related technical field with 7+ years of experience in the chemical industry or other regulated industry OR MS Degree with 5+ years.
  • A solid working knowledge of Chemical Product Stewardship and Product Regulatory.
  • A demonstrated track record of implementing processes, related improvements and exposure working with regulatory agencies.
  • Experience in understanding regulatory requirements including knowledge of REACH, TSCA, FIFRA, FDA guidelines and indirect food contact.
  • Demonstrated leadership and collaboration skills to include influencing and motivating personnel in a virtual environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on global teams.
  • Experience with Regulatory Information Management systems, such as SAP Data Warehouse.
  • Ability to work with the entire organization to ensure documentation, implementation, compliance, effectiveness and analysis of all critical processes.
  • Experience working with sustainability initiatives and eco-certification programs is desired.
