Where the Chemistry Happens… Laboratory Technician (1703657) – Attapulgus, GA Job Responsibilities Include:

Testing & Sampling

  • Complete the verification protocol for instruments and standardize solutions according to documented procedures as well as the required records
  • Prepare setup standards and solutions
  • Complete routine sample analysis following documented methods and communicating with Operators and Supervisors about the quality of material
  • Maintain chemical standards documentation and ensure re-certification is completed and documented as needed
  • Participate in laboratory housekeeping and safety inspections
  • Assist with analysis of samples and method development as needed
  • Prioritizing and managing sample testing
  • Troubleshooting and participate in root cause analysis
  • Reporting atypical sample or equipment behavior to supervisor
  • Additional duties which a Laboratory Technician may carry out include routine chemical reactions or bench-scale tests of plant processes; sample collection in the plant; environmental monitoring; or plant analytical instrumentation maintenance/verification
  • Assist with lab supply management including restocking lab supplies

Data entry

  • Utilizing equipment and data software programs
  • Use of SPC chart software
  • Monitor and interpret SPC charts and take appropriate action
  • Enter in-process data in LIMS
  • Processing and completion of shipment release testing

Processing paperwork

  • Assist with writing or revising work instructions
  • Auditing quality documents
  • Document non-conformances
  • Optimize existing procedures through Measurement System Analysis or other means
  • Manage archival of Quality Documents

Misc.

  • Conformance to ISO/RCMS requirements
  • Trainer for testing, data entry and processing paperwork
  • Participate and make recommendations in safety meetings
  • Maintaining housekeeping
  • Preparation / labeling of samples for shipment
  • Ensure compliance with all assigned training
  • Perform assigned duties as outlined by supervisor, management or designee
  • Develop an understanding of the techniques of quality assurance and quality control
  • Well-developed analytical methodology and an insight into troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Support & participate in the BASF Process Safety Program (i.e. Zero Incident Mindset, complete training, report all incidents, participate in investigations etc.)
  • Work in a team environment and interact with management and employees within the organization
  • Work rotating shifts and overtime when required

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You…

Basic qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • At least 6 months of experience working in a lab environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 year of experience working in a QC/QA production lab environment
  • Experience supporting an ISO or GMP manufacturing environment
  • Developed computer skills using software packages such as Microsoft Office and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
