Where the Chemistry Happens… This position provides expert maintenance leadership and management to the team for the Zachary Site. S/he position leads and directs the activities of BASF and contract employees for the safe, efficient, and effective execution of routine, turnaround, and outage maintenance.   • Lead the development of maintenance goals, ensure implementation, monitor effectiveness, and take necessary actions to meet overall business objectives.
  • Set goals for staff, consistent with business and department needs, and hold them accountable for delivering results. Provide coaching and direction to ensure that they successfully meet individual objectives. Track team performance for success (KPIs/metrics).
  • Management personnel items including performance reviews, compensation programs, discipline, conflict resolution, short- and long-term disability and accommodations, consistent enforcement of rules and policies, change management, on-boarding of new employees, and engage in effective and clear communication.
  • Review job orders to determine work priorities.
  • Schedule repairs, maintenance, and installation of equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
  • Coordinate activities or workers fabricating or modifying equipment to manufacture new products or improve existing products.
  • Direct maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, gas, or air required for operations.
  • Develop preventive and predictive maintenance programs in conjunction with engineering and maintenance staff.
  • Review production, quality control, maintenance reports, and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities.
  • Inspect operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
  • Plan, develop, and implement new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials.
  • Review new product plans and discuss equipment needs and modifications with design engineers.
  • Confer with management, engineering, and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems, and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline and 5+ years of manufacturing, maintenance and/or reliability experience OR 10+ years of manufacturing, maintenance and/or reliability experience in a chemical/petrochemical or other similar manufacturing operation required.
  • Broad-based knowledge and experience of maintenance and reliability technical systems and processes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with facts and figures along with the ability to influence, persuade, and negotiate. Strong interpersonal skills are required in this position.
  • Able to deal effectively with the unknown and unexpected.
  • Work collaboratively with diverse multiple stakeholders, including production, engineering maintenance, procurement, and stores.
  • Ability to influence, motivate, and coach personnel and teams in a professional leadership role
