Description

The Expandable Thermoplastic Urethanes (E-TPU) plant is the only plant in North America and is one of three plants globally. The plant produces E-TPU for the consumer industry in a strong team environment. The Expandable Thermoplastic Urethanes (E-TPU) Operator Trainee position is responsible for the following:

  • Operate packaging equipment including forklifts, shrink-wrapping unit, pallet jack, and unloading and loading of trucks.
  • Sample raw materials and finished goods.
  • Monitor emissions of finished products.
  • Demonstrate safe and efficient performance of daily tasks ensuring adherence to all established ISO9001, Responsible Care, and site and plant standards.
  • Operate plant equipment in a manner and condition to safely produce quality product.
  • Maintain housekeeping at an excellent level.
  • Perform equipment, safety, and other required checks in an accurate, neat, and timely manner.
  • Contribute to the success of plant goals and objectives through participation on team activities to further advance the qualities of a high performance organization.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Required:
  • High School education or equivalent required
  • 0 to 3 years chemical operator experience
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time, climb/descend flights of stairs throughout shift and perform clean up activities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety excellence.
  • Ability to become fork-lift certified.
  • Ability and discipline to work effectively on 12-hour rotating shifts.
  • Applicant must take and pass a career fit, basic mechanical and skill tests in order to qualify.
  • Highly-developed teamwork competency, ability to work with others effectively under time constraints.
  • Excellent quality competencies, ability to execute tasks safely, consistently and reliably.
Preferred:
  • Fork-lift and/or pallet jack experience.
  • Basic computer skills (Word, Excel)
