Description

Objectives: 1. Strategic thinking and customer focus

• Interface to industry management, sales and customers.
• Provide technical services to support implementation of launch products, growth opportunities and in case of customers’ complaints
• Ensure the achievement of tasks within the agreed time and budget.

2. Technical competence

• Assure high level of technical service according to market requirements.
• Up to date understanding of market needs and industry technology trend.
• State of art know-how of formulations and application methods in assigned area.
• Lab management by efficient equipment utilization, test method standardization and EHS, 5S implementation

3. Leadership

• Motivate and lead to achieve maximum results. Open communication with coating lab team.
• JD communication and main task set up with SH coating team member.
• Cooperate with senior manager for people development plan

Main Tasks:

• Technical service by TSR implementation
• Follow TSR process / input in global lab job database
• Provide technical support according to TSR and prepare report with conclusion accordingly.
• Assist to support product launch: develop/adapt formulations and sales tools (e.g. demonstration articles) to ensure successful introduction of the defined products.
• Coordinate and allocate the SH coating lab resources to fulfil the requests from industry management, sales and customers.
• Maintain up-to-date understanding of industry trends and technical development that effect target markets.
• Organize and support technical training internally and externally.
• Regularly network with the other BCE Technical Service Labs in Asia Pacific and other regions.
• Ensure efficient and effective utilization of laboratory assets and resources: Planning of efficient test- and lab-programs, cost-efficient use of lab materials. Ensure sufficient supply of lab materials, arrange proper shipment to/out of Shanghai. Ensure access to appropriate paint/coatings systems.
• People management: leading and developing SH coating team regarding quality of work, operational excellent and motivation. Ensure qualification and motivation of people through performance management and training.
• Proactive implementation of EHS requirements, 5S and quality certifications, e.g. ISO standards.

Requirements:

• Education: Scientific education: either Bachelor degree in Chemistry or related field.
• Working experience: At least 10 years’ experience in coatings industry and at least 2 years’ experience in managing personnel. Experience with pigments in coatings preferred.
• Technical and professional knowledge: Knowledge of related chemistry. Understanding of the markets needs with regards to products and innovation in which the business is active. Ability to develop the competency of subordinates.
• Fluent in English language, both oral and written
• Operate Microsoft Office
