Where the Chemistry Happens… Product Technician (1704293) – Portland, OR The Product Technician calibrates optical temperature measurement instrumentation for manufacturing, applications, and research. Responsible for setting up, checking, and correcting operations to ensure conformance to established calibration standards and procedures. Maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots supporting instrumentation and equipment. Perform light manufacturing duties and conducts experiments as assigned. Responsibilities Include:

  • Calibrate all temperature measurement instruments for customers and applications team using established standards and procedures.
  • Generate reliable data from which correct scientific and technical conclusions and recommendations can be made.
  • Review data and develop first level recommendations for engineering team.
  • Record and communicate test results.
  • Develop basic test procedures and methods.
  • Prepare written test procedures as required for departmental use.
  • Understand and utilize current hardware and software products.
  • Maintain assigned instruments and furnace equipment in optimum operating condition and provide input on design, specification, and construction of new equipment.
  • Coordinate production schedule with production leads, sales, and customer service.
  • Maintain production schedule and report any issues to team.
  • Perform all SAP required transactions to process orders.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • Possess working knowledge of laboratory testing and analysis techniques.
  • Knowledge of commonly-used product testing concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Work in a multi-disciplined team environment with little supervision.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You… Basic qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Three years of experience in measurement instrumentation, physics, optics, and/or material science

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Material Science, Physics, Electronics, or similar
  • Previous experience in Electronics testing/validating new products
