BASF's site in Palmyra is located on the Mississippi River. The site is a leading producer of agricultural chemicals for our Agricultural Solutions business, and is experiencing dynamic growth. The site is located on 1600 acres and employs approximately 330 people including contractors. The extensive regulatory requirements create a challenge to achieve, maintain and enhance world class EHS performance. Project Engineer (1702457) - Palmyra, MO As a Project Engineer, you will support capital investment and process safety projects for the Palmyra site. You will also be a focal point of responsibility, authority, and technical expertise of these capital investments and process safety improvements. The successful candidate for this position must be a results-oriented leader who can build strong working relationships and function effectively at all levels of the organization. He/she must be able to think strategically to mitigate risks, solve problems and increase value. Formula for Success: You Will…

  • Achieve project objectives which include functionality, cost and schedule for major capital investments
  • Provide and maintain focus on all safety criteria in the development of project concepts and project execution
  • Provide leadership to the project teams which includes engineering, process evaluations, process development, safety reviews, troubleshooting, operating procedures, equipment evaluation, equipment selection, and project support
  • Develop, evaluate and implement chemical and material handling processes strategies to effectively meet Site, North American and Global BASF objectives
  • Use the BASF Change Management process for implementing improvements to the site
  • Ensure compliance with all BASF policies, procedures and technical standards
  • Champion the scope development process to ensure completeness of the basic engineering, and look for opportunities for added value through application of Value Improving Practices

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

  • BS, or higher level, degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 1 - 5 years of chemical plant experience (or successful completion of a BASF Rotational Program)
  • Ability to work on multiple projects
  • Potential to learn and develop new technical skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Outstanding work ethic
