The role will lead and direct the activities of BASF and contract employees and remove barriers to facilitate work execution productivity for routine, turnaround, and outage maintenance.   • Ensure I/E maintenance work and capital checkouts are executed safely, correctly, and efficiently. This is done by providing enough oversight and guidance to ensure the technicians understand their safety responsibilities and are following procedures and good practices. Provide technical assistance as needed.
  • Review maintenance schedules for upcoming weeks and shutdowns and adjust resources or schedules as needed. Manage high-priority work (schedule breakers) by shifting manpower and acquiring materials as necessary.
  • Manage the performance and development of BASF management-represented technicians. This includes target setting, performance reviews, and compensation planning, as well as daily coaching and feedback. This also includes working with technicians on their development plans and providing feedback and guidance.
  • Maintain documentation and records, including updating instrument specifications and initiating updates to I&E drawings as changes are made or errors discovered. Review calibration records of critical instruments and enter action items as appropriate for quality critical instruments found out of calibration.
  • Enter AIMS as appropriate and lead efforts to complete investigations on time. Complete assigned action items from MOCs and AIMS.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

  • Associates degree and a minimum of 5 years in petrochemical instrumentation and electrical maintenance; OR High School diploma/equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of experience in petrochemical instrumentation and electrical maintenance
  • Supervisory experience is preferred
  • Technical troubleshooting skills for instrumentation and electrical systems.
  • Broad-based, hands-on knowledge and experience with various types of instrument and electrical systems with a solid understanding of maintenance work processes.
  • Ability to deal effectively with the unknown and unexpected and possess the ability to handle non-routine and emergency activities, such as schedule breakers, plant shutdowns, start-up, and commissioning.
  • Proven ability to motivate and challenge maintenance crafts.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with facts and figures along, with the ability to influence, persuade, and negotiate. Strong interpersonal skills are required in this position.
  • General computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and SAP
  • Knowledge and experience to provide technical guidance in the absence of support staff
