Where the Chemistry Happens… Production Operator II (1703489) – Lincoln Park, MI This is a position for an individual who possesses basic mechanical aptitude and has experience working in a production / industrial environment. Responsibilities:

  • Follow all safety regulations.
  • Follow all applicable area specific and plant procedures.
  • Remove ceramic substrate from automotive catalytic converters using a hydraulic shear.
  • Perform preventative / operator level maintenance and prior to use inspections on the decanning shear. Complete decanning paperwork and maintain an accurate count of catalytic converters decanned.
  • Perform blade changes and basic machine setups on the hydraulic shear.
  • Coordinate waste / scrap disposal activities in the decanning area.
  • Operate forklift.
  • Supplement and support production / material handling personnel as required to cover absences / vacation.
  • Load the mill at a rate that meets the standards and goals set by the Mill Operator and/or the Production Supervisor.
  • Identify maintenance issues and coordinate with the Mill Operator and/or the Production Supervisor to institute corrective action.
  • Assist the Mill Operator in the execution of maintenance activities.
  • Perform prior to use inspections on the roller mill and ancillary equipment as required to sustain production.
  • Ensure that all milling / sampling paperwork is correctly filled out and turned in to the Mill Operator. Ensure all customer lots are properly labeled and separated.
  • Clean and configure conveying equipment at the end of every customer’s lot.
  • Ensure all customer lots are accurately weighed in and loaded into the mill
  • Load and unload trucks as required.
  • Maintain acceptable housekeeping standards in the work area.
  • Assist in the training and oversight of new hires.
  • Supplement and support personnel as required to cover absences / vacation.
  • Familiarity with common hand tools.
  • Good dependability, flexibility, and the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Knowledge of proper material handling procedures.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You… Basic qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 year of experience in an industrial / production environment.
  • Experience operating a forklift

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Forklift license or certification
  • Previous experience as a Machine Operator
  • Hydraulic shear / press or mill loading experience
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, & Excel
