Description

This position is based at BASF PETRONAS Chemicals' Sdn Bhd, a RM3.4 billion joint venture that combines the innovative strengths and capabilities of two well-established Fortune 500 companies, BASF SE (60%), the world's leading chemical company and PETRONAS (40%), Malaysia’s fully integrated energy company with a wide network of operations around the world. Objective

To plan and execute inspection strategies, technics for the new and existing assets, oversight and implement inspection and quality assurance services and DOSH liaison services to ensure high availability and reliability of plants and infrastructure so as to minimize business risk to company. The role is leading and responsible for defining methods, tools and work process as well as organize and managing qualified resource to provide the defined or requested inspection services. And resolving technical standard, regulation compliance issues. Main Tasks

• Analyses and implement action plan in line with the business strategy i.e equipment’s integrity inspection strategy to ensure cost effective services that complies to industrial and BASF standards.
• Anticipates and analyses regulatory requirement / instructions and implement a timely actions as to ensure inspection programme meeting the required regulations and standards. (Authority relations).
• Anticipates and analyses RBI operational readiness/needs, inspection plan recommendation and implement effective actions as to ensure proper execution with no production interruption.
• Anticipates and analyses in-house contractor (inspection) operational performance and implement effective countermeasure as to ensure cost effective services that complies to industrial and BASF technical standards and codes.
• Analysing inspection findings, review and verify the results. Generates repair / upgrade / modification recommendations / guidance regarding equipment and piping integrity, Communicate verbally and in writing to other internal functional divisions in clear, organized and effective manner.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from recognized university.
• Sound technical knowledge and valid Certification of API 510, API 570, API 653, API 580. etc. Minimum any 2 of them.
• Minimum 8 years experience in , Oil & Gas, petrochemicals or chemicals industries
• Sound technical knowledge of equipment and piping, storage tank inspection and their repair. etc.
• Good understanding of material, welding and pressure vessel, piping, welding and NDT testing. Good understanding of local and international codes and standards, like ASME, API, and BS etc.
• Good supervisory and analytical skills
• Strong communication, management and leadership skills
• Able to supervise, lead competent person & subordinates
• Able to plan and control all related works as required
• Able to work under intense pressure in a fast paced environment and deliver within tight deadlines
