At the BASF Huntsville Site, we make the chemistry and technology used in vehicle catalytic convertors and other environmental products. As part of our team, employees help us conceive, design, implement and validate new equipment, technologies and processes to help make our world's environment cleaner. Our Maintenance Department plays a vital role in the success of our plant. This position contributes by receiving, storing, assembling and staging materials required for distribution to support production and maintenance activities.

  • Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.
  • Loads and unloads items such as packages, bundles and containers from transport vehicles.
  • Examines material received, verifies part numbers, and checks discrepancies such as damaged or unmarked parts.
  • Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
  • Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distributes items to production workers, maintenance workers and other personnel.
  • Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed using scanning equipment and computer software to enter inventory data and create or modify inventory records.
  • Records and maintains perpetual inventory of quantity and type of materials and parts received, stocked, and distributed.
  • Reviews records for accuracy of information and compliance with established procedures, and to determine adequacy of stock levels.
  • Traces history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommends remedial actions to resolve discrepancies.
  • Aids customers in locating stocked supplies and parts.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 2 or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must be able to operate machines of medium complexity, often including use of intermediate computer skills
  • Must demonstrate enhanced trouble shooting skills within their assigned process
  • Must demonstrate the ability to handle multi-task assignments
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations while performing tasks which may require multiple steps
