Where the Chemistry Happens… We are seeking an Asset Effectiveness Engineer for the Intermediates business in our Geismar, LA location. This position leads Asset Effectiveness improvements in order to maximize profitability as part of Strategic Production. This involves developing, analyzing and maintaining plant relevant Asset Effectiveness Key Performance Indicators, identifying and managing planned and unplanned downtime strategies and driving reliability improvements. This position facilitates the development of Asset Management Plans, including capital and maintenance strategies, optimization of Asset Effectiveness, and ensuring optimal life cycle costs to achieve the business objectives. Formula for Success: You Will… AE Data Collection, Analysis, Driving Action Plans and Progress

  • Develop, analyze and maintain plant relevant Asset Effectiveness Key Performance Indicators and develop plans to maximize profitability.
  • Lead Asset Effectiveness improvements through identification of lost availability and poor reliability. Manage diverse working teams consisting of Technologists, Production, Reliability and Maintenance experts to achieve targets.
  • Lead Asset Effectiveness review meetings and determine the need for further analysis and/or resources. Maintain the documentation of these meetings.
  • Accountable with cross functional team to identify, analyze, drive root cause failure analysis, develop action plans, and drive action item completion on both Operational and Equipment Bad Actors.
  • Maintains and improves plant reliability through identifying/correcting operational reliability opportunities.

Outage Strategy

  • Define and manage down time strategy (planned & unplanned) with integration of Asset Effectiveness data, business priorities, and asset compliance plan.

Cost Management

  • Provides input to preparing the maintenance budget and controls spending through appropriate tracking, forecasting, and adjustments.
  • Monitors key asset performance indicators, and supports and implements continuous improvements in order to enhance plant availability and reduce the plant costs.

Asset Management Plan Ownership

  • Owner of Asset Management Plan for responsible areas.
  • Lead timeline for yearly revalidation of Asset Management plan in conjunction with operational Planning.

Capital Projects

  • Support business case development and charter screening.
  • Develop the Capital Strategy and Plan for assigned area including: strategies for equipment life cycle analysis, strategies for asset replacement and support for strategic prioritization of capital projects within the business group.

Asset Compliance Plan

  • Drive 3-year Equip Criticality assessment with cross functional teams (I&E, Mech, PAG, etc) providing input and data. Maintain ownership of the documents
  • Ensure equipment strategy progress per identified priority. Develop equipment strategy overviews, incorporating total cost of ownership, that will feed into yearly Operational Planning for capital and maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance of the assets with internal and external rules and regulations (e.g. SIS, mechanical integrity, inspections, etc.) via adherence to scheduling requirements or seeking approval for extensions.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or other related technical discipline required.
  • A minimum of 4 years of production and/or maintenance experience in a chemical/petrochemical or similar manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of best industry practices regarding maintenance and reliability activities and work processes.
  • General knowledge of rotating and stationary equipment repair, project execution, and construction and installation techniques.
  • Must have general computer skills as well as user knowledge of SAP maintenance and project functions.

This position requires all candidates to either currently possess or obtain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Card from the U. S. Department of Homeland Security.
