Where the Chemistry Happens… Process Technician (1702640) – Chattanooga, TN As a Process Technician, you are responsible for the daily operation of the BASF Chattanooga chemical plant facility to produce styrene butadiene latex dispersions. Your responsibilities include operating compressors, pumps, reactors, heat exchangers, steam boilers, valves, tanks, pressure vessels, instrument control systems, forklifts, hoists, flare systems, scales, lab testing equipment, computers, and other associated manufacturing equipment. Technicians are tested and expected to thoroughly understand the operation and capabilities of the equipment in their area. Technicians are expected to cross-train in additional production areas and support other members of the team in achieving a task or solving a problem. Technicians are expected to be able to disassemble and clean plant equipment, piping and pressure vessels. Technicians must recognize and eliminate safety hazards. Accept and demonstrate personal accountability for EHS performance. Demonstrate sound judgment by adhering to EHS requirements while planning and executing a job. Support and continually apply all Quality Improvement, Safety, Ecology policies and procedures. Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma and 3 years’ industrial experience – OR – an Associate’s Degree in a relevant field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Mechanical knowledge of equipment breakdown including disassembling of piping and pressure vessels associated in a chemical plant environment.
  • Completion of Chemical Technology program considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of plant chemical equipment and processes, testing, and computer skills obtained through training and on-the-job experience.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts Monday – Sunday including holidays
