Where the Chemistry Happens… Production Operator (1704248) - Attapulgus, GA Production Operators provide production support to BASF Attapulgus Operations with a Safety First mindset. Production Operators are responsible for all aspects of personal safety, product quality, and operating of the reactors, as well as, filling, loading, and unloading systems and their auxiliary equipment such as blend tanks. They manufacture quality finished goods and manage raw materials in a safe and efficient manner. This includes running reactors, load/unload of tank trucks, railcars, totes, drums or pails as required. Typical Duties Include:

  • Understand, monitor, and operate within process safety operational guidelines and report safety incidents
  • Complete safety training and wear proper personal protective equipment as required
  • Perform batching in blend tanks and reactors
  • Work from both verbal and written instruction, standard procedures, batch sheet and loading sheets to operate reactors, as well as, filling and loading system
  • Read, record and interpret data of instruments, reactors, tanks, pumps, etc. and makes corrective adjustments as required to efficient production runs
  • Perform housekeeping to maintain production and operations in neat and orderly condition
  • Contribute to the success of plant targets & objectives through participation in activities to further advance safety, quality, cost, productivity and morale throughout the site
  • Become proficient at operating production equipment with minimal supervision
  • Operator control systems in daily work environment
  • Perform light maintenance duties in the plant and/or warehouse
  • Operate mobile equipment, as required, after appropriate instruction
  • Ability to wear a respirator mask, if required
  • Understand and follow all procedures (i.e., Safe Work Permit, Lock Out Tag Out, Line Break, PPE, and Hot Work)
  • Alignment of these tasks and activities will be dependent upon team alignment of duties, as well as product volume and schedule mix, which may affect specific tasks required on any given day
  • Lift 50 lbs. intermittently (Heavier parts are lifted using other methods
  • Have a safety mindset
  • Able to understand and respond to environmental and personnel hazards promptly
  • Able to safely operate, maintain, perform minor repairs and make proper adjustments on associated equipment in work areas
  • Able to show proficiency in troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Able to work safely in indoor/outdoor work areas and in noisy, dimly lit, awkward, and high areas
  • Able to work from ladders, elevated places, or in pits when required (i.e. climbing and descending stairs repetitively during a shift)ble to walk/work on uneven surfaces
  • Able to work rotating shifts, overtime, weekends and holidays

  • Previous experience working in a Paper, Chemical, or Petro-Chemical environment in a production operator position (or similar role)
