Appleton Site Manager (1703833)

BASF is looking for a dynamic and energized team member for the position of Site Manager in our Appleton Wisconsin plant. As the Site Manager, you will be accountable for all plant operations from raw material purchasing to the logistical activities required to ensure product is delivered on time and with the right quality to the customer. This includes all aspects of EHS (environmental, health and safety), technical support, planning, manufacturing, maintenance, financial, human resources, administration and logistics.

We are looking for you to put your strong leadership skills and ability to network with extended support teams within BASF, as well as your strong core values in EHS and Quality leadership to work.

Formula for Success: You Will…

  • Direct all production operations for the site to ensure order fulfillment needs are met. Ensure raw materials are purchased and received in a timely manner to meet the production plan. Supervise the preparation of the production plan and ensures the plan is optimized to produce the right products in the most efficient manner. Direct technical support to ensure the production processes meet all quality and material consumption requirements. Direct and support maintenance and engineering activities to ensure that plant equipment and infrastructure are well maintained and available and capable to meet production requirements and EHS standards.
  • Ensure and improve the performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability of all aspects of the site.
  • Develop the site operational and budgetary goals that support divisional and regional goals with clear work plans. Actively lead plant personnel in a professional manner toward achieving the performance goals with emphasis on EHS, quality, and meeting all company standards. Hold self and staff accountable for achievement of the performance goals.
  • Act as the lead change agent responsible for continuous improvement of all aspects of the site performance. Lead and drive continuous improvement through actions and by example.
  • Interface with business and supply chain management to ensure the site is meeting the customer requirements. Identify and champion actions to improve the overall efficiency and profitability of the sites product portfolio.
  • Manage and develop site personnel. Provide leadership, coaching and training to ensure that site personnel and support groups can meet the job requirements and adhere to all the site and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Be a member of the Dispersions & Resins manufacturing network.
  • Collaborate with 2 business units – Dispersions & Resins and Performance Chemicals

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You…

  • BS degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with 8+ years’ experience.
  • 5+ years' experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Prior supervisory/managerial role in production, engineering or other technical field preferred.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and lead individuals in direct and in-direct reporting relationships.
  • Ability to coach and develop subordinates and to analyze and correct performance issues.
  • Ability to collaborate at various levels of the organization (superiors, peers and subordinates).
  • Ability to adapt to unfamiliar processes and situations with minimal review/supervision. Flexibility to adapt to deadlines, changing schedules, priorities, and unpredictable events within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills, as well as excellent negotiation and facilitation skills, and entrepreneurial spirit.
