Where the Chemistry Happens… This role is responsible for conducting operational, compliance, and fraud audits related to contractor management at BASF locations throughout North America. Contracted Services audits are designed to identify risks and review controls in related operational, financial, compliance, legal, accounting, and administrative controls. Contracted Services Auditors perform detailed analysis/testing to evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of the process being audited, adherence to the Contractor Management and related guidelines, corporate policies and procedures, and sound business practices. They evaluate the overall effectiveness of the internal controls being relied upon by management. Auditors report findings in such a manner that the responsible procurement management team and site teams may appraise/assess/evaluate the processes and activities audited and take the appropriate corrective action.   • Assist with the planning stage of the audit process with guidance from the Indirect procurement category manager team and supervisor.
  • Develop detailed audit approaches within the scope of each audit or assigned area based on terms of the Master Service Agreement and Corporate Policies.
  • Direct and perform detailed contractor management related audit testing for mostly reimbursable, T&M, and fixed contract agreements.
  • Prepare and discuss audit observations and reportable items with responsible staff, process owners, and local/functional management to confidently provide guidance and share best practices.
  • Discuss all findings as detailed in the draft report with recommendations that create a sustainable process moving forward. Identify systemic issues and communicate to Procurement management and internal audit.
  • Prepare such correspondence as may be required for clarification and later follow-up on audit observations and comments.
  • Track the audit findings to ensure that follow-up to the agreed upon action items have been completed and, if applicable, that the contractor credit has been collected and returned to BASF.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; advanced degree or CPA/CIA/CFE designation preferred.
  • At least 2 years of diversified business experience in public accounting, general accounting, internal audit, controlling, procurement, project and/or contractor management, or a related field.
  • Experience in a manufacturing and/or chemical environment is preferred.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to set priorities and manage time in a dynamic work environment without a significant amount of oversight from supervisor.
  • Sound problem-solving skills.
  • Strong analytical and math skills.
  • Solid oral and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of vendor contracts and corporate policies.
