This position is based at BASF PETRONAS Chemicals' Sdn Bhd, a RM3.4 billion joint venture that combines the innovative strengths and capabilities of two well-established Fortune 500 companies, BASF SE (60%), the world's leading chemical company and PETRONAS (40%), Malaysia’s fully integrated energy company with a wide network of operations around the world. OBJECTIVES To plan, direct and guide BASF PETRONAS Chemicals laboratory and support Quality Management to ensure all products meet market agreed specifications and legal regulations. In addition, to establish and develop Quality procedures according to the international standards requirement continuously. MAIN TASKS

  • Drive and lead laboratory team in providing and executing analytical support/services to the production plant (in-process control).
  • Govern personnel and facility sources efficiently to provide QC/QA procedures for the release of raw-materials and final (sales) products. This includes recording and documentation for traceability purposes in line to the site and market Quality and HSE requirements.
  • Define the test design for sensory evaluation, perform and monitor sensory testing for aroma ingredients according to the standard guidelines and defined test principles.
  • Ensure sensory conformity of sales products (odour, taste, appearance) as part of the QC/QA process for product release.
  • Taking the key role for consulting internal customers and partners (operation, supply chain, product management regulatory affairs) to identify suitable test principle for solving analytical and sensory tasks efficiently.

  • Deal with customer feedback & complaints, and pass on issues to managers where necessary.
  • Monitor and elaborate reports for the Quality Management (QM) and record GMP product reviews for traceability.
  • Manage the audits by customers and authorities

REQUIREMENT

  • Master’s Degree in Chemistry or equivalent from recognized university.
  • Minimum 5 years working experience in laboratory & 2 years management experience
  • Must have highly proactive attitude with strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Highly independent and possesses excellent leadership capabilities.
  • Working knowledge with test procedures applying standards following ISO/DIN, GMP and FDA requirements.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skill and able to work under pressure.
  • Familiar with LIMS and DMS, basic knowledge in SAP/QM system
  • Good proficiency of English, both spoken and written
