Where the Chemistry Happens…

The Territory Development Representative (TDM) leads all technical and commercial account management activities for Engineered Plastics with assigned accounts, territories, and/or market segments. The role covers a 13-state territory primarily comprised of the Southeast and Central regions of the United States, and is responsible for approximately $20M in annual revenue. The TDM will manage day-to-day sales and target closure activities with BASF Authorized Distributors within the territory. S/he will be expected to develop and maintain strong relationships at distributors’ Regional, District, and Sales Rep level and their key accounts. The role will interact with distributor’s corporate-based functions including purchasing, logistics, product management, and executives.

Formula for Success: You Will…

  • Provide account and market development strategies.
  • Maintain priorities for product lines and conducting product training.
  • Identify and initiate specification development for N-PMN products for OEM and key end users in support of distributor’s new business development activities.
  • Consult on pricing with the distributors to best close business and ensure profitability for N-PMN products.
  • Develop, maintain, and update log of new business activities.
  • Achieve territory growth targets through new business closes and core business growth activities, including active identification of new end-use customers.
  • Support Distributor’s efforts during pricing adjustments.
  • Report, investigate, and close non-conformance incidents.
  • Support cross regional efforts; participate in Global Key/Strategic Account activities.
  • Implement product and customer portfolio optimization projects.
  • Provide monthly input for forecasting.
  • Support business strategies and processes as required.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Business or Engineering, Plastics Technology, Chemistry, or Chemical/Plastics Engineering; advanced degree is a plus.
  • At least 7 years of relevant work experience.
  • Prior sales experience, preferably in engineered plastics or distribution management.
  • Successful track record of sales growth and profit management.
  • Ability to develop and cultivate new business.
  • Capable of forming and managing across organizational layers and functions
  • Ability to lead people and teams and manage people without direct authority.
  • Create and implement key account plans and strategies
  • Preference that candidate resides in the territory
  • Willing and able to travel up to 40% of the time, including overnight
