  • Key responsible person for the development and implementation of new business models of one of the largest BASF divisions, i.e. Performance Material Division in the region Asia Pacific.
  • Responsible for translating new business models into tangible business results for all industries (transportation, consumer, construction, industrial) and all polymer product classes of Performance material division across complete Asia pacific region

Main Task:

  • Responsible for the identification, evaluation, development and implementation of new business models for Performance Material (PM) Division of BASF in the region Asia Pacific.
  • Initiates, leads and drives new business model innovation projects.
  • Contributes to PM business growth by developing new business models.
  • Develops, communicates and applies business model innovation process.
  • Identifies unmet market needs and translates these needs into sustainable new business models.
  • Builds up an external network with experts and external companies in the field of new business models, disruptive innovative companies, consulting companies.
  • Translates these innovative ideas into BASF business opportunities.
  • Implements new business models for R&D projects, NMD projects and new business model options for existing plastic business.
  • Works closely together with relevant stakeholders in the organization, mainly sales & marketing representatives, R&D representatives.
  • Ensures collaboration with global business model innovation team in all regions. Aligns with business model experts of other PM units.
  • Acts as challenger/consultant for BASF organization for new business models, business cases incl. pricing of R&D projects and business.

Technical & Professional Knowledge:

  • Deep marketing, consulting and business understanding.
  • Ability to analyze, understand and translate industry, market and customer needs in new and sustainable business model options.
  • Ability to analyze value chains, conduct market studies, understand market dynamics.
  • Ability to develop new strategies based on changing market, industry and customer needs.
  • Very strong entrepreneurial drive.
  • Ability to identify and focus on most attractive business model projects with highest commercial & technical relevance.
  • Ability to work in a diverse, inclusive and intercultural organization.


  • Education: Minimum Master Degree in Business Administration and/or Chemical Engineering or equivalent, MBA.
  • At least 7 years of total experience in consulting, marketing and/or business
  • At least 3 years’ experience in business consulting
  • At least 3 years’ experience in business development and/or marketing function
  • Substantial experience in dealing with chemical industry and customers
  • International experience would be of additional benefit (e.g. mid- / long-term abroad stays, like study, Ph.D., professional career, etc.)
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills in English. Excellent communication skills.
  • Open-minded, creative, team player.
