Where the Chemistry Happens…

The Global Key Account Manager (GKAM) is responsible for the overall growth and strategic development of a key account, for groups within the following Dispersions and Resins businesses: Transportation/Industrial/Furniture/Flooring Coatings and Formulation Additives. The GKAM also globally coordinates and supports all BASF contact with the customer, as well as alignment of BASF`s various businesses and regions toward the assigned key account. The GKAM oversees all activities with the key account, while taking a long-term (3-5 year) strategic approach for growing the business.

This role also has responsibility for Key Account Management for another regional customer. In this regard, the role is responsible for the overall growth and strategic development for the key account in North America, for groups within the following Dispersions and Resins Businesses: Architectural Coatings, Construction & Fiber Bonding, Transportation/Industrial/Furniture/Flooring Coatings and Formulation Additives. This role will manage and develop key corporate relationships at the customer, and will partner with sales, technical and marketing colleagues to develop and execute account strategies.

Formula for Success: You Will…

  • Lead the development and execution of the strategic key account plans for global and regional business.
  • Build and strengthen relationships at all hierarchy levels between BASF and the customers, particularly at the senior level.
  • Globally align BASF’s portfolio strategy with customer needs, along with input from regions, in the development, implementation, and coordination of account strategies.
  • Responsible for global business relationships, including annual sales, volume, and contribution margin targets.
  • Serve as key contact for problem escalation and resolution with customer.
  • Coordinate communications to, from, and about key account to internal and external stakeholders, including cross-functional and segment/divisional contacts.
  • Interpret and communicate industry trends and market intelligence.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a Chemistry or Business discipline; advanced degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in field sales, management, marketing, and/or business development.
  • Strategic thinker with ability to develop and implement long-range growth plans.
  • Proven leadership and influencing skills.
  • Experience with customer-facing roles.
  • Prior background in the coatings market is strongly preferred.
  • Strong business acumen and proven project management capabilities.
  • Excellent written, oral, and listening skills, with ability to build relationships at all levels (internally and externally)
  • Persuasive selling, demonstrated negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly motivated and goal-oriented, with a proven record of goal attainment.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Flexibility to travel as needed, up to 50%.
