Where the Chemistry Happens… We are currently seeking an Agricultural Meteorologist, with analytical and modeling experience, to join our research and development (R&D) team within the Agricultural Solutions (AP) business. The position is located near State College, PA. Agricultural Meteorologist (1703795) – Bellefonte, PA ZedX Inc., now part of BASF Group, is a globally-recognized provider of weather, plant, pest, and management models in support of production decisions and food security at all spatial and temporal scales important to agriculture. As an Agricultural Meteorologist, you will be responsible for setting up and leading analytic studies and/or the development of weather-based agronomic models from planning to execution.   • Apply your extensive knowledge of how weather impacts pest development, crop growth, and management practices
  • Write scientific documents (such as peer reviewed journal articles) and create presentations for targeted audiences
  • Describe complex scientific modeling solutions to non-scientific internal and external clients

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You…

  • PhD in a Physical Science (e.g. Meteorology, Physics, Environment, etc.) with a working knowledge of Agriculture – OR - PhD in an Agricultural Science (e.g.: Plant Physiology, Agronomy, Entomology, Plant Pathology, etc.) with a working knowledge of Meteorology
  • Experience and demonstrated applied knowledge in Mathematics & Data Analytics for creating Agronomic Models
  • Fluency in English; written and verbal
  • Competency in at least one programming language (e.g., R, FORTRAN, C, C++, etc.)
  • Knowledge of scientific and technical trends in the agricultural research community
  • Willing to participate in formal educational programs and onsite training to complete a work assignment
  • Willing to participate in a multicultural, multidisciplinary work environment
