Description

This position is based at BASF PETRONAS Chemicals' Sdn Bhd, a RM3.4 billion joint venture that combines the innovative strengths and capabilities of two well-established Fortune 500 companies, BASF SE (60%), the world's leading chemical company and PETRONAS (40%), Malaysia’s fully integrated energy company with a wide network of operations around the world. Objective

  • Be a relevant business partner within the framework of good corporate governance to achieve long term strategic goals set by the Company.
  • Anticipates, analyzes and implements adequate actions to add highest value to the Company and its stakeholders.

Main Tasks

  • Support respective complex and functions in terms of providing cost analysis, simulation and forecast for operational excellence and decision making on ad hoc basis.
  • Actively support and advise respective complex and functions on emerging issues.
  • Support functional heads in process improvement and implementation.
  • Analyse major variances for raw materials (BOM) and utilities (recipe) between actual vs standard costs on monthly basis and examine whether variance is permanent and change is required in the predetermined costs.
  • Monitor closely that the prices of raw materials are in accordance with S&P agreement and to initiate changes in SAP system per latest negotiation and revision of the contract.
  • Review the manufacturing cost for relevant stakeholders and explain variances between actual vs. budget and previous months as reported in the Income Statement.
  • Analyse technical costs and CAPEX spending progress (actual vs budget) for respective complex and functions.
  • Prepare 3 years operational planning for raw materials, variable and fixed manufacturing costs.
  • Analyse and monitor inventory turnover movement and report to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Support functional heads in process improvement and implementation by leveraging cross function collaboration and expertise.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years working experience in Controlling or Finance & Accounting in medium or major corporations, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Degree in Accounting / Finance from recognized University. Professional accounting qualifications ACCA, CIMA, MIA would be an added advantage
  • Possess very good communication and interpersonal skills with high level of integrity
  • Proactive, possess drive and commitment towards standard and performance for self
  • Able to work under intense pressure in a fast paced environment to deliver within tight deadlines
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple tasks
  • SAP experience – Able to give 1st level support and coordinate with SAP User
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel – Intermediate)
