Description

Located in Hong Kong, BASF’s regional headquarters oversees more than 16,000 employees at about 100 sites across Asia Pacific. In addition to regional business units, Hong Kong office also houses regional functional units including Corporate Affairs, Finance and Controlling, Human Resources, Management Consulting, Procurement and Supply Chain Services.

Objectives of the Position

  • Reporting to the Regional Head of Controlling, Intermediates Asia Pacific (effective Oct 1, 2017), the incumbent will be responsible for:
    • all controlling tasks of the assigned Sub-Business Units (SBU) including operational planning, forecasting, actual performance & KPI monitoring, financial analysis to support decision making and business steering, support mid/long term strategy and investment projects etc

Job Responsibilities

  • Take the role of Controlling Business Partner for regional business management, marketing & product managers, production sites/ Joint Venture (JV), country, global & regional controlling for assigned tasks.
  • Continuously follow up on efficient reporting and transparency of Local Operations of JVs/production sites for the assigned SBU while considering BASF requirements.
  • Act as a key contact of monthly Management Reporting to the Business Unit Management Team, Operating Division and Regional Controlling.
  • Monitor key performance indicators for assigned SBU. Consult with management on status of achievement as well as identification of corrective actions, if needed. Analyze deviation of consolidated margin targets from budgeted figures. Discuss deviations with sales and marketing and seek measures to improve.
  • Perform/facilitate financial analysis to support business decision on Color, Material, Finishing (CMF) deals, business models, mid/long term strategy development, investment projects and other projects with cooperation from local, regional and global team.
  • Prepare profit & loss forecasting for assigned SBU. Analyze deviations between forecasted and actual figures to identify key drivers and improve forecast accuracy.
  • Provide comprehensive and efficient reporting for on timely manner. Analyze deviation from budget & previous years and discuss with relevant stakeholders for corrective actions.
  • Drive operational planning of assigned SBU

Requirements

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or related disciplines
  • Holder of professional qualification
  • Minimum 6 years in business controlling and/or accounting, finance
  • Technical & Professional Knowledge: Knowledge in SAP and controlling tools
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Good communication skills and business understanding as well as acumen
