Where the Chemistry Happens…

The Sr System Engineer is responsible for managing & maintaining BASF IS Application landscape. S/he ensures restoring normal application services as quickly as possible and minimizes adverse impact on operations including Problem management, Change management (incl. small business requests) and continuous Service improvement (CSI).

This Sr System Engineer ensures global integration of all the services in the delivery network (contains operational supplier management) including technical gate keeping, identification, control, record, report, audit and Configuration Items (CIs) verification (including versions, baselines, constituent components, their attributes, relationships and hierarchies). The Sr SE also defines handling and escalation of operational security breaches.

Bespoke Applications is responsible for the full lifecycle of dedicated Applications (CIs) incl. consult, design and build.

• Processing complex requirements and changes
• Consulting and customer support
• Support for Junior System Engineers and System Engineers in the team
• Planning, installation, configuration and operation of complex IT systems (HW/SW) in the area of Microsoft Active Directory
• Management of customer projects and/or management of international subprojects with relation to Microsoft Active Directory
• Responsible for business-oriented and operative management of external service providers
• Design, introduction and optimization of (global) operational processes
• Quality assurance and documentation of system changes
• Development of technical concepts and delivery models
• Responsibility for execution of reports, cost controlling and management
• Responsibility for execution of service documentation, design and planning
• Ensuring knowledge building and transfer within the IS Community
• Service owner for (global) services
• On-call duty and availability corresponding to existing SLA agreements
• Monitoring compliance with SLAs, KPIs, OLAs

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You…

• BS degree with 3+ years in the IT sector OR Technical Certification in Information Technology field with 3+ years in the IT sector.
• Training/Experience in information technology, telecommunications technology, process control technology or communication technology.
• Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Active Directory
• Good knowledge of project management methods (analogous to PM2).
• Microsoft, ITIL, network certifications, operational vendor management desired.
• Knowledge of global ticket processing systems and heterogeneous technologies.
• Ability to gain competence in new assignment areas quickly and independently and to devise and provide out-of-the-box solutions.
• Strong team orientation with a highly developed ability to lead others to success and a confident manner in cross-cultural environments.
• Customer orientation, organizational awareness, highly innovation-oriented, and able to perform under stress.
• Strong communication skills, including ability to read, write and speak English.
