Where the Chemistry Happens… As a data scientist with a strong background in analytics-relevant information technology, you will serve as an internal software developer in the area of business and data analytics. In addition, you will be responsible for leading, executing, and coordinating innovative data analytics projects and establishing sustainable IT solutions, including data modelling and user interface creation. • Take responsibility, drive new developments, and work creatively on challenging and groundbreaking development tasks in accordance with the highest technical standards.
• Initiate the development of customized business and data analytics solutions, and liaise within the Advanced Business Analytics team and the global BASF community.
• Transfer innovative solutions from a piloting phase into a sustainable and scalable software solution for global and cross-business usage.
• Mentor and coach other team members and support their functions by providing expertise and insights into data and computer science.
• Liaise with internal business and corporate units, and translate their analytical needs into initiatives.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

• Master’s degree in Computer Science/Data Science/Information Systems or a related discipline with at least 3 years of relevant professional work experience; OR a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Data Science/Information Systems or a related discipline with at least 6 years of relevant professional work experience.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience with databases and SQL, with SAP applications and Analytics such as SAP HANA, with data warehousing, data management, and Big Data technologies, as well as lifecycle management of software solutions.
• Deep understanding of one or more of the following areas: Hadoop (e.g., HDFS, MapReduce, Hive, Yarn, Flume, Storm), Spark, Kafka, and ActiveMQ.
• Have superior understanding of internal and external data needs in industrial business processes, with ability to communicate ideas and solutions to non-data science experts within the company.
• A creative and motivated team player with strong communication and presentation skills in English. Experience working in a diverse and global team on a focused and results-oriented basis; possession of a consultancy mind-set and enjoy working on a new team.
• Be willing to travel up to 10% (including overseas).
