Where the Chemistry Happens… Under the direction of the Regional Labor Relations Manager, this role is responsible for providing the full range of labour relations support to the specific site. The position is accountable for sound labour relations practices in policy implementation, organizational development, and talent management. S/he will work with the Business Units and SHRMAs to maintain employment records and provide other comprehensive labour relations services including counseling, assisting with contract administration, disciplinary actions, conducting HR investigations, compensation, organizational development, EEO, and legal compliance.   • Formulate labour relations priorities that will facilitate the achievement of business goals.
  • Coordinate employment/placement/transfer/promotion to maintain proper staffing levels in the Business Unit/sites consistent with the collective bargaining agreement and company policies under EEO/AAP guidelines.
  • Work with employees/managers to resolve conflicts and provide guidance and counsel for LR issues. Recommend and/or review supervisory recommendations for discipline, suspensions, or terminations.
  • Interpret and implement changes to BASF HR Policies and Practices for effective and consistent labour relations.
  • Provide consultation on performance management, talent management, and organizational development required to support the businesses.
  • Regularly identify and report on trends, issues and challenges to SHRMAs, SHRBAs, and LR Managers.
  • Support the grievance process at the sites.

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Industrial, or Labour Relations required. HR certification (e.g., PHR/SPHR) or advanced degree is preferred.

· With a degree, a minimum of 4 years of progressive professional experience in labour relations. Without a degree, at least 8 years of professional experience in labour relations required.

· Ability to gain a thorough knowledge of BASF Corporations Human Resources policies, procedures, practices, company benefit programs, personnel administration systems and techniques, EEO Investigations, Affirmative Action Planning, and other areas as appropriate.

· Knowledge of the principles and practices of human resource management specific to unionized sites

· Ability to manage and administer a broad range of tasks including resolving complaints and counseling managers and employees on the interpretation of collective bargaining agreements, policies, procedures, and company guidelines.

· Knowledge of federal and state labor laws.

· Ability to express ideas clearly, effectively, and persuasively, both orally and in writing.

· Capability of analyzing labor relations issues accurately and providing advice in a timely manner.

· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

· Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
