Description

BASF Shared Services Center Kuala Lumpur, was established in 2005. Located in Kuala Lumpur, the shared services center has 620 employees and provides functional services in the areas of Finance, Controlling, Information Services, Human Resources, Environment, Health & Safety, Procurement and Import-Export Order Management Services to BASF companies and affiliates in 16 countries across the Asia Pacific region. BASF has three other shared services centers located in Berlin and Ludwigshafen in Germany and in Montevideo, Uruguay, that cover Europe and the Americas.

Objectives

  • Support BASF operations for countries in scope to be in compliance with global and local chemical regulations and BASF requirements.
  • To ensure clear roles and responsibilities and continue develop EHS Service sub-team to be competence in performing key task.
  • To communicate with key stakeholder and relevant parties effectively for the established work flow. Stakeholders including Global Product Safety /Trade Control team, country management, BU management and supply chain community.
  • To lead execution of project including improvement, scope expansion and ensure successful go live of project per schedule.

Job Description

  • Manage EHS Services sub-teams and related operation deliverables for trade control and chemical regulations services to BASF group companies, in accordance with established policies, guidelines, work procedures and KPI. This includes set up of classification for controlled products based on accurate understanding of global and local Chemical Regulations, obtain legal license/document, release blockages upon validation and scope expansion.
  • Establish and continuously improve communication processes for related work stream in achieving operation excellence. This includes alignment with various key stake holders such as global product safety/ trade control team, countries and supply chain.
  • Guide team members on day to day operation to ensure timeliness, quality services and continuous knowledge retention within team. Ensure agreed services level agreement are met for respective stakeholders.
  • Drive sustainable improvement initiatives for operation excellence and effective knowledge management including quality issues. Execute rigorous preventive action including lean six sigma methodology and digitalization approach.
  • To lead and execute scope expansion activities, i.e. establishing working procedures, knowledge transfer, training, KPI monitoring etc.
  • To actively drive people development activities, through i.e. dialogues, training needs analysis, on job skills enrichment etc.

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor degree in scientific area, preferably in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related Science discipline.

Working Experience:

  • With at least 5 years in chemical regulation or relevant work experience in Environment, Health and Safety trade control.
  • Knowledge in Product Safety and Stewardship is an advantage.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.

Technical & Professional Knowledge:

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Sound knowledge in Chemistry and regulations
  • Good understanding on global and local chemical legislation system, master data system, supply chain processes
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Proactive and be able to work under pressure and independently
  • Proficient in MS Office and SAP
