Where the Chemistry Happens… This EHS Specialist is responsible for supporting multiple areas and sites within the Texas hub in effective, safe, and environmentally acceptable operations. This position would be involved with all aspects of safety, including, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene compliance, and Process Safety activities as needed through a shared HUB services concept.   • Implement and train employees on BASF Safety Standards
  • Assist in EHS training programs as it pertains to technician training programs for operations and maintenance, new employees, and all members on changes made to existing EHS requirements.
  • Provide expertise to work on EHS hub-related activities for the entire Texas Hub.
  • Develop EHS Programs at various levels of the organization with ability to function effectively in crisis and emergency response situations.
  • Be responsible for accident/incident investigation, mitigation, and reporting.
  • Display thorough understanding of OSHA and NFPA rules and recommendations.
  • Demonstrate experience in confined space entry, hot work, lock-tag-try, and line breaking.
  • Conduct safety audits as needed.
  • Develop effective working relationships with site management, employees, and the EHS community to drive continuous improvement in safety/industrial hygiene performance.
  • Support site specific safety standards.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher degree) in Engineering, Chemistry, Safety Engineering, Environment Engineering, Science, or related field(s), combined with a minimum of 3 years of experience in EHS and/or Process Operations within the manufacturing industry OR an Associate’s degree with 5 years of experience in EHS and/or Process Operations within the manufacturing industry; OR High School diploma plus 10 years of experience EHS and/or Process Operations within the manufacturing industry in lieu of degree.
  • Experience in the Chemical or Refining industry is preferred.
  • Experience in MOCs, incident investigations, and root cause analysis.
  • Experience in PSM/RMP Program development and Implementation is preferred.
  • Microsoft Excel experience.
  • Proven ability to drive change and develop, implement, and manage Strategic and Sustainable Safety program.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and an ability to work with employees and contractors within all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work with and lead teams.
  • Ability to manage and lead multiple projects at one time.
