The Contract Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for managing the manufacturing of BASF Crop Protection and Pest Control products at 3rd Party manufacturing sites. Contract Manufacturing Supervisor (1702892) As Contract Manufacturing Supervisor, you will oversee the external tolling network, build relationships within the network, drive process and cost optimization efforts and act as the main interface with all BASF functions involved in the tolling process. Overall, you will ensure the quality of all BASF products, directly impacting customer satisfaction and operational excellence. In this role, you will be the process and production owner for all assigned products with a focus on Aerosol Products for the Professional Pest Control Solution Market. Formula for Success: You Will…

  • Supervise all internal and external tolling activities (Formulating, Filling and Packaging of Aerosol and Crop Protection Products)
  • Ensure the reliability of the tolling function including: accuracy of product release decisions, formulating compliance, packaging compliance to requirements, throughput and inventory reporting
  • Supervise all tolling related interfaces with relevant functions, especially Quality Management, Supply Chain Management, Operations and Procurement
  • Develop and execute the regional strategy to optimize the use of external tolling service providers
  • Drive the selection and approval of any future tollers in collaboration with relevant functions
  • Drive continuous improvement with respect to decision making process to allocate new and existing products between tollers based on short and long term quality, capacity and capability considerations
  • Ensure the use of Production Manuals are available and used; Manuals contain relevant information, materials, standards, etc. to internal and external tollers to make compliant Agriculture and Pest Control Solutions Products
  • Drive process optimization and the use of new technologies to develop toller capabilities, improve productivity and quality
  • Contribute to and work with global toller management functions to leverage on key learnings from other regions, as well as technical and process benchmarks
  • Coordination with Planning to Meet Marketing needs: Support Supply Chain and other functions to establish production schedules that meet customer needs; Support Materials Management function for raw materials, packaging components, labels, etc.; Develop and maintain SAP bills of material.
  • Lead operations readiness team (ORT) product launch activities at toll manufacturing sites; Lead ORT product launch activities; Technology resource for startup operations and troubleshooting

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You…

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Other Scientific Discipline (Extensive Aerosol Technology industry experience will be considered in lieu of a degree)
  • 8+ years of operational experience in chemical manufacturing, sourcing and contracting, and/or procurement
  • Experience with supervising existing and/or startup of new operations
  • Demonstrated EHS orientation and emphasis in both personnel and process safety
  • Strong computer capabilities (MS Office, Lotus Notes, etc.)
  • Willing and able to travel up 75% of the time
  • Strong negotiation, critical and strategic thinking skills; Strong technical and interpersonal skills; Ability to communicate effectively (written and oral) and build relationships with individuals at multiple levels of the organization

  • Experience with agricultural chemical manufacturing
  • Experience with milling operations experience (wet and dry), and extrusion
  • Experience with packaging operations and equipment (liquid and dry)
  • SAP knowledge and experience
