Where the Chemistry Happens…

The RSC (Regional Service Center) Project Engineer services the technical support needs for a linked regional site. This position is responsible for providing project engineering/management in assigned plant areas to assure proper design, procurement, and construction of capital and expense projects, usually <$15MM, according to regulatory and BASF standards.

Formula for Success: You Will…

  • Develop project scopes, generate and obtain cost estimates, and prepare appropriation funding requests. Ensure appropriate project safety reviews are completed as required, both before and after approval. Utilize applicable Value-Based Engineering practices (VBE) to optimize project scope, schedule, and costs.
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental, safety, and health requirements, and promote a safe working environment for project execution.
  • Develop, establish, and maintain partnerships with assigned project manufacturing representatives to execute projects from initial scoping and funding, through detailed engineering and procurement, to start-up and commissioning, and final documentation and closure.
  • Request and coordinate required process and discipline engineering and design resources, whether from the site, corporate groups, or outside engineering vendors, to prepare engineering design deliverables and to procure equipment, fabricated materials, and services.
  • Adhere to current corporate and plant requirements for equipment/materials specifications and vendor preferences.
  • Maintain SAP project data entries, monitor project progress through scheduling and other tools, perform project status reporting, and control spending through appropriate tracking, forecasting, and adjustments.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a chemical/petrochemical or similar manufacturing environment, preferably in a Project Engineering role OR successful completion of the BASF Engineering PDP
  • Working knowledge of chemical process equipment including, but not limited, to rotating equipment, heat transfer, solids handling, storage tanks, and vessels
  • Availability for up to 50% regular travel schedule to support the business
  • Strong customer focus capabilities to closely interact with multiple organizational levels
  • Demonstrated work experience in project execution and best practices for project management work processes
  • Sound interpersonal, communication, administrative, personal motivation, and personal adaptability skills
  • Familiarity with BASF Technical standards, accounting practices, and procurement policies is a plus.
  • User knowledge of SAP project functions preferred.
  • Knowledge of the BASF Project Execution Roadmap desired.

Position will be filled at a level commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
