Where the Chemistry Happens… BASF’s Middle Georgia site employs approximately 500 people who are distributed across four production plants and three milling operations covering 38,000 acres. The site mines, processes, and distributes Kaolin to customers around the world. Apply Engineering Best Practices to solve process and production problems and create improvements in the plant operations. S/he advises and/or trains the production supervision and hourly personnel during the startup and/or development of new and existing processes in collaboration with a process engineer or team. The role analyzes productivity, quality, cost, and maintenance data and uses that information to optimize existing plant/mill equipment.   • Address and raise the EHS standards at BASF. Actively contribute to meeting the team’s EHS objectives.
  • Identify opportunities and efficiently and effectively evaluate initiatives in production and process optimization, cost reduction, and quality improvement.
  • Monitor operations on a daily/weekly basis, analyze and study trends to determine patterns, research inefficiencies, and identify action plans to correct issues.
  • Develop equipment and process standards, operating procedures, and training materials as needed to document and manage site operations.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing, Marketing, Process Engineers, Product Development, and Research for scale up of new products and major refinements of existing products.
  • Progress toward achieving Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering-related field required.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience with processing equipment and control systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of functions and designs of the mill, plants, maintenance of rotating machinery, and other manufacturing equipment.
  • Must have knowledge of chemical and corrosive environments
  • Understanding of the elemental breakdown of the Kaolin as applicable to ceramic honeycomb process and production is preferred.
  • Previous work in a unionized environment is an asset.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience required. Supervisory experience is a plus.
  • Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt certification is an asset.
