Where the Chemistry Happens… This position will involve supporting manufacturing operations for the Light Duty (LD) Production organization. LD Production consists of two primary process groups: slurry preparation and substrate coating. The Engineer II supports daily operations and improvement projects to ensure safe, timely, cost-effective, and high-quality production output.   • Provide continued rollout and support of this initiative to all sites within NAFTA.
  • Act as the point-of-contact between all NAFTA sites, the Consulting Global Production Efficiency Group (ZZC/E), and the Process Optimization Team
  • Organize, participate, and lead Process Optimization Workshops.
  • Design and redesign mechanical equipment for project solutions.
  • Evaluate Process Optimization Ideas utilizing process engineering tools such as Aspen Engineering Suite and Aspen Manufacturing Suite.
  • Organize all Process Optimization monthly reports to upper management.
  • Present various activities and update reports to upper management.
  • Organize training activities and best practice sharing sessions.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required; advanced degree is a plus.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Engineering (Design and/or Operations) required.
  • Knowledge of unit operations process design and sizing calculations (e.g., heat exchangers, distillation, extraction, reactors, cooling towers) required.
  • Theoretical know-how and practical experience in troubleshooting plant problems and optimizing plant performance required.
  • Strong communication, computer skills, and organizational skills required.
  • Ability to lead groups of individuals towards a common goal required.
  • Knowledge in the use of Computer Aided Process Engineering (CAPE) required.
  • Matlab, and AutoCAD experience required
  • Candidates must have a safety focus mindset

Preferred

  • Knowledge of a wide variety of chemical processes preferred.
  • Understanding of plant process control and advanced process control techniques and their applications to monitor, control, and/or improve plant performance preferred.
  • Knowledge of PIMS (ASPEN InfoPlus21), Design of Experiments preferred
