Project Manager Sr./Staff (1703934) – Houston, TX The RSC PM (Regional Service Center Project Manager) services the technical support needs for a linked regional site. This position is responsible for providing project management in assigned plant areas to assure proper design, procurement, and construction of capital and expense projects, usually <$15M, per regulatory and BASF standards.   • Develop project scopes, generate and/or obtains cost estimates, and prepare appropriation funding requests. Ensure appropriate project safety reviews are completed as required, both before/after approval. Utilize applicable value-Based Engineering practices (VBE) to optimize project scope and costs.
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental, safety, and health requirements, and promote a safe working environment for project execution.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with assigned project manufacturing representatives to execute projects from initial scoping and funding, through detailed engineering and procurement, to start-up and commissioning, and final documentation and closure.
  • Request and coordinate required process and discipline engineering and design resources, whether from the site or corporate groups or outside engineering vendors, to prepare engineering design deliverables and to procure equipment, fabricated materials, and services.
  • Adhere to current corporate and plant requirements for equipment/materials specifications and vendor preferences.
  • Maintain SAP project data entries, monitor project progress through scheduling and other tools, perform project status reporting, and control spending through appropriate tracking, forecasting, and adjustments.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering and 7 or more years of degreed professional experience in chemical manufacturing or a related industry environment.
  • 4 or more years of experience in a Project Manager or Project Engineer role.
  • Solid working knowledge of best practices for project management work processes.
  • Working knowledge of chemical process equipment: rotating equipment, heat transfer, solids handling, storage tanks and vessels.
  • Demonstrated work experience in project execution,
  • Availability for 50% travel to support Regional Service Center projects.
  • Very strong customer focus capabilities to closely interact with multiple organizational levels.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, administrative, personal motivation, and personal adaptability skills.
  • Must have generic competencies of analytical thinking, communication and interpersonal understanding, initiative, team working and team leadership, and quality orientation/attention to detail.
  • General computer skills.
  • This position requires all candidates to either currently possess or obtain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Card from the U. S. Department of Homeland Security.

Position will be filled at a level commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
