Where the Chemistry Happens… As a member of the Continuous Improvement team, you will serve as an integral part of the continuous improvement program across the Petrochemicals business in North America. As a Black Belt, you will lead large, complex Lean Six Sigma opportunities and recommend to the leadership team improvement areas.   • Lead large, complex improvement projects through all the stages of the Lean Six Sigma process (DMAIC) across various areas of the North American Petrochemicals organization to completion and realize business benefits.
  • Coach, mentor, and train CPN employees in the use of continuous improvement Lean Six Sigma tools through the completion of their Yellow and Green Belt certification projects.
  • Work with process owners in the following manner: perform data analysis, find root causes for identified problems, document via flowcharting existing processes, and other continuous improvement techniques as needed.
  • Identify top continuous improvement opportunities and present recommendations to the North American Petrochemicals leadership team.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You…

  • Bachelors degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline, with 10 or more years of degreed practical experience driving reliability and continuous improvement (preferably within the chemical/petrochemical industry).
  • Six-Sigma Black Belt certification, with demonstration of validated and completed Black Belt level projects.
  • Strong knowledge and skill-set in Lean Six Sigma.
  • Availability for 20% business travel.
  • 5+ years of practical experience in a Continuous Improvement role with at least 3 years as a Black Belt (preferably within the chemical/specialty chemicals industry) driving reliability and continuous improvement.
  • Experience managing, mentoring, and coaching others in both technical, commercial, and production environments on continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated track record of implementing operational excellence initiatives and business improvement processes.
  • Strong communication skills, both orally and written, with the ability to influence key strategic initiatives and establish buy-in across different sites.
  • Ability to quantify impact to process metrics and financials.

  • Ability to develop creative solutions to problem solving.

  • Ability to present and teach in-house training material for Lean and Green Belt students.

BASF recognizes institutions of higher education that are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent.

This position requires all candidates to either currently possess or obtain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Card from the U. S. Department of Homeland Security.
