Where the Chemistry Happens… We are seeking a Production Engineer to join our Chemical Monomers group, which offers a comprehensive portfolio of organic and inorganic basis materials and innovative specialties. With our monomers and basic polymers we create durable links - for the success of our customers worldwide. The Chemical Monomers group (CM) has an opportunity for a Production Engineer for the TDI unit in our Geismar, LA location. Production Engineer - TDI (1703485) – Geismar, LA You will support the day-to-day operation of the TDI plant providing the technical support needed to execute the required production plan. You will provide guidance and input to achieve and develop plant goals, objectives, and operational budgets. You will be instrumental in leading troubleshooting efforts when problems arise and is a solution provider.   • Generate and complete MOC and revalidate temporary MOCs.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise to Daily Operational Team for plant problems that occur.
  • Provide technical and leadership support in root cause failure analysis for production, EHS, and Quality Incidents.
  • Participate in micro/finite production planning and scheduling.
  • Provide on-call and response to any after-hours event that impacts production or EHS.
  • Interface with suppliers, customers, and vendors as needed to maintain plant operation.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline, preferably Chemical Engineering, and a minimum of 2 years of experience in a chemical/petrochemical or similar manufacturing environment required.
  • Basic familiarity of process equipment operation including pumps, heat exchangers, and vessels.
  • Understanding of chemical engineering principles and application in a plant environment.
  • Good troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Ability to adapt to regular changes in priorities as required in a production environment.
  • Good communication and computer skills. Self-starter with high level of results orientation and good teamwork skills.

Position will be filled at a level commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate. This position requires all candidates to either currently possess or obtain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Card from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
