This position is a developmental position within the Instrument & Electrical Design team in the Geismar Site Engineering organization. This position will be required to provide technical support and leadership for capital projects during front end loading, detail design, and execution phases.   • Front-end loading engineering and development of FEL scope documents for instrumentation and/or electrical projects.
  • P&ID development for instrumentation and controls.
  • Interface, coordinate, and support other engineering disciplines and operations through FEL, design, construction, and commissioning.
  • Review of vendor drawings or engineering deliverables for specification compliance.
  • Provide equipment inspections and FAT for instrumentation and electrical equipment.
  • Display knowledge of Hazardous Area Classification for equipment selection.
  • Provide specification and procurement of instrumentation and electrical equipment.
  • Calculate sizing on control valves and flow meters.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and a minimum of 2 years of engineering experience is required. Prior experience related to design and installation of industrial process instrumentation and electrical equipment is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with facts and figures, along with the ability to influence, persuade, and negotiate. Strong interpersonal skills are required in this position
  • Knowledge and experience to provide technical guidance.
  • Broad-based, hands-on knowledge and experience with various types of instruments and/or electrical design principles and software.
  • Preferred skills include advanced use of Microsoft Office products including Access, Visual Basic for Applications, and Excel.

This position requires all candidates to either currently possess or obtain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Card from the U. S. Department of Homeland Security.
