Where the Chemistry Happens…

BASF is currently looking for a Production and Compliance Engineer I to work at our Freeport, TX site. You will provide daily support to the execution team of your assigned unit.

Formula for Success: You Will…

Provide Production Engineering Support:

  • Monitor and provide guidance for the achievement of plant goals, objectives, and operational budgets
  • Generate and complete MOCs; revalidate temporary MOCs to confirm they are still valid
  • Interface with suppliers, customers, and vendors as needed to maintain plant operations
  • Participate in micro / finite production planning & scheduling
  • Identify Lean opportunities and support implementation
  • Define strategic & non-routine activities, then support scheduling of shift work
  • Ensure proper documentation of operating files, records, and operation drawings
  • Provide technical and administrative support to operations, maintenance and the business in support of the production plan
  • Provide technical and leadership support in root cause failure analysis for production and quality incidents
  • Provide troubleshooting assistance and knowledge transfer for troubleshooting assistance to the Daily Production Execution team

Provide Compliance Engineering Support:

  • Responsible to ensure unit is compliant with environmental compliance records and reporting, review environmental compliance records, and ensure compliance with waste management requirements.
  • Follow-up, track, and ensure timely closeout of environmental related action items.
  • Be the unit contact for agency inspections/audits for all data required for completion of environmental reporting, and for all data required for new environmental permits or changes to mental permits.
  • Develop and provide support for environmental training of production personnel.
  • Participate and provide expertise in PHAs.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering with 2 or more years of degreed work experience in a chemical/petrochemical or similar manufacturing environment or completing the BASF PDP.
  • Strong understanding of Process Engineering concepts and their applications.
  • Practical experience in plant troubleshooting.
  • Prior background in process control, field equipment, and DCS/PLC Control Systems.
  • Must have good communication skills and ability to work in a matrix organization.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to lead teams.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, TCEQ, and other applicable code and regulations and standards is a plus.
