Process Controls Engineer (1703862)

Responsible for providing Controls Engineering, Instrumentation and Electrical expertise, providing oversight, optimization, and management of all controls systems and assets, and providing daily and in-depth technical support to Operations and Maintenance on these and related systems.

Formula for Success: You Will…

TYPICAL DUTIES:

  • Create and maintain the plant SCADA software systems to BASF standards(currently Wonderware InTouch)
  • Develop and maintain the plant Digital Control System (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programs to insure efficient plant performance
  • Insure backups of all controls systems
  • Development of documentation of all control systems and the archiving of this documentation
  • Create and maintain plant production reporting systems (such as downtime, web based, application based, etc.)
  • Maintain plant historical data collection systems
  • Insure all EPA required data warehousing and reports are maintained
  • Manage development of all maintenance, production, and engineering control system programming
  • Manage the up-keep of plant control network and plant control computers
  • Maintenance of critical software safety interlocks for plant equipment in DCS and PLC systems
  • Assure proper design, installation, preventive maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems according to regulatory and BASF standards
  • Supply technical expertise to operations and maintenance in the controls areas
  • Provide leadership to the maintenance resources in the relevant controls and E&I functions, and assisting in or executing small projects

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline and 3+ years of experience in a chemical or other similar manufacturing environment required
  • Experience with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming and/or Distributed Control Systems (DCS), automation and instrumentation required
  • Strong technical skills to help troubleshoot problems in the different manufacturing areas
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in chemical plant operation preferred
  • Knowledge of chemical unit and material handling operations preferred
