The BASF division of Care Chemicals offers a broad range of ingredients for hygiene, personal care, home care, industrial and institutional cleaning, and technical applications. We are the leading supplier for the cosmetics industry as well as the detergents and cleaning agents industry, and support our customers worldwide with innovative and sustainable products, solutions, and concepts. Financial Analyst (1703835) – Florham Park, NJ You will be based at the North America BASF headquarters in Florham Park, NJ, reporting to the Business Financial Manager, Home and Personal Care Solutions. Under minimal supervision, you will be responsible for financial analysis associated with forecasting, planning, and the preparation of capital appropriations for the Personal Care Solutions business. The analyses can be operational or strategic in nature, and may include economic analysis support to marketing and manufacturing. Additionally, you will support the manager in monitoring actual performance against operating plan, forecasts, and prior periods highlighting potential problem areas requiring management attention, as well as making recommendations for resolution.   • Serve as business partner for sales and marketing for multiple businesses within Home and Personal Care Solutions.
  • Own financial responsibility for the P&L and Balance Sheet for assigned businesses
  • Review and follow-up on resolution of data on month-end information. Review profit-and-loss information in SAP to investigate and coordinate the correction of major deviations from normal.
  • Perform financial analyses associated with cash flow and accuracy of monthly forecast with actual results, identifying key drivers – customer level, product level
  • Provide financial competitive and customer analysis of the Home and Personal Care Solutions markets in coordination with the market intelligence team.
  • Support of Strategic Business Unit (SBU) initiatives from a regional perspective.
  • Coordinate the preparation of monthly profit/loss position for assigned businesses within Home and Personal Care Solutions.
  • Coordinate gathering/assembly of marketing and sales data, and forecast monthly and annual profit/loss position for the business.
  • Perform non-recurring evaluations of various “what if” business scenarios.
  • Create management, control and steering tools.
  • Assist in the preparation and development of Operational Plan and Forecasts.
  • Add value in acting as the financial representative in customer negotiations for assigned businesses.
  • Create measurement tools and presentation graphs for management

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics or in a technical, business, or quantitative methods discipline required
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in financial analysis and economic evaluations
  • Ability to interpret various types of information to develop and present key data to management for making business decisions.
  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels while exhibiting the potential for significant future career growth
  • The ability to professionally represent BASF in customer interactions
  • Advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint for creating charts and graphs. Expertise of SAP or comparable systems. Access database and Tableau experience is a plus.
  • Ability to travel 5% of the time
