Where the Chemistry Happens… Under minimal supervision, the Treasury Manager, Financing is responsible for all Corporate Finance activities as required to protect the financial interests of BASF Group in the North American (NA) Region in accordance with BASF policies. Responsibilities include evaluation and execution of cost-effective long-term financing, interest rate and foreign currency exchange rate risk management, and business/functional unit support projects. Business support can be strategic or operational in nature, and is usually related to mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures; financial analysis/modeling; and financing.   • Manage interest rate and currency exposures via risk mitigation.
  • Arrange and maintain capital market borrowing facilities and relationships.
  • Evaluate and execute long-term borrowings, including strategic planning with Tax and other stakeholders. Manage payments, covenants, and other compliance obligations.
  • Supervise monthly liquidity planning and annual financial and dividend planning.
  • Support acquisitions and divestitures, including performing due diligence on Treasury topics and securing appropriate financing. Provide integration support for Financing topics.
  • Arrange credit support (i.e., guarantees, letters of credit) as required by regulations and support certain business transactions (e.g., commodity purchases, warranties).
  • Evaluate lease vs. buy financing decisions relative to acquisition of real estate or fixed assets.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline; advanced degree is a plus.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in treasury, finance, and/or accounting.
  • Experience leading teams by coaching, instructing, and evaluating employee performance.
  • Practical experience creating economic valuations and modeling.
  • Understanding of topics such as FX risk management, derivative instruments, liquidity forecasts, and debt/financial covenants.
  • Awareness of debt capital markets beneficial, as well as exposure to special financing vehicles, including letters of credit and guaranties.
  • Ability to think logically and strategically, with excellent attention to detail both in written documents (i.e., contracts) and in analysis (i.e., lease vs. buy).
  • Flexible in changing circumstances.
  • Strong sense of accountability able to effectively communicate sensitive information, as well as present, interact, engage, and influence a variety of audiences.
  • Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) designation is preferable.
  • M&A experience is a plus.
  • Awareness of debt capital markets beneficial, as well as exposure to special financing vehicles, including letters of credit and guaranties.
