Where the Chemistry Happens… We are seeking a Property Tax Manager to ensure BASF and its affiliates are in compliance with all state taxing jurisdictions. The job is responsible for the timely and accurate filing of more than 700 tax returns and the timely remittance of tax. The job requires expertise in property tax compliance and valuation issues.   • Tax Return Compliance and Analysis – Responsible for managing property tax compliance calendar and the preparation, review and processing of business personal property tax returns, filings and tax payments. Must have the ability to identify opportunities and risks and make recommendations for managing tax liability throughout the process.
  • Inquiries, Audits and Appeals – Act as property tax expert for internal and external inquiries. Respond to inquiries from state tax jurisdictions, negotiate property values, and defend tax strategies / tax positions claimed. Provide support on property tax appeals and litigation.
  • Accounting for Property Taxes – Responsible annual property tax budget, cash forecast, journal entries, and monthly account reconciliations.
  • Credits and Incentives – Supports credit and incentive negotiations and site specific, multi-year planning strategies. Responsible for ongoing compliance with contracts and agreements.communication and recommendations to management.
  • Other Special Projects – Support key regional initiatives and projects.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

  • BS or BA with a concentration in Accounting, Finance, Real Estate or Business with an MBA/MS Taxation and / or CPA, a plus
  • 7-10 years of experience working in property tax with solid understanding of property tax valuation
  • Microsoft Tools - Strong skillset in Excel
  • Tax Technology- Strong skillset in PTMS and SAP
  • High level attention to detail and excellent oral and written communication
  • Self-motivated, with strong interpersonal, team and partnering skills
  • Discretion in handling confidential and sensitive tax information
