Where the Chemistry Happens… We are seeking a Technology Manager, Process Innovation, to join our team and manage the process innovation pipeline, serving as project manager of process R&D projects moved forward by implementing innovative technology. Technology Manager, Process Innovation (1700851) You will work as the primary driver of process innovation in the mobile emission catalyst business to ensure the manufacturing processing equipment is capable of producing products being developed by R&D.   • Serve as the global focal point for process innovation in technology; primary interface between R&D and the technology group
  • Manage and ensure robust process innovation pipeline
  • Collaboratively prioritize and steer innovation projects and topics within the phase gate process, manages resources and budget; drives the realization of process improvements together with operations.
  • Represent technology group in matters of process intellectual property including recommendations for patents/trade secret protections.
  • Define and clarify new manufacturing technologies and strategies.
  • Anticipate and collaborate with project stakeholders to enhance process safety, environmental stewardship, automation concepts, quality improvements, and risk control measures. Leads projects in these areas that have global significance as requested.
  • Identify and exchange best practices through collaboration with business managers to understand future capacity and capability needs.
  • Support the development of global concepts for process safety and occupational health and implements together with operations. Supports Clean Sheets Safety Reviews and RC audit.
  • Analyze the IP situation (in- and external cost and technology benchmarks using the ZOT ICE tool).
  • Maintain constant problem identification dialogue with manufacturing sites. Initiates and conducts technology exchange workshops with production sites and BASF technology centers of excellence.
  • Support troubleshooting, engineering, and optimization activities in CCE sites; often leading those activities with global impact.
  • Support production by leading improvement or capital projects, especially those with global significance.
  • Constantly promote a culture of working together, free sharing of best practices, and continuous innovation.
  • Develop/optimize technical concepts and supports capex projects within the OD
  • Support site decisions, production footprint optimizations and transfer projects
  • Support the development and implementation of technology and asset strategies for GBUs

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

  • Bachelors’ degree in a technically relevant science or engineering field. Masters or PHD preferred.
  • 6+ years of manufacturing/technology experience or R&D experience required
  • Professional expertise, demonstrated by a history of growth, advancement, expanding influence and recognition as subject matter expert required
  • Communicate Effectively e.g. exceptional communication skills (written and oral) including: the ability to present to all levels of the organization including senior executives and site operations and the ability to work effectively with all organizations at BASF to provide support and technical leadership
  • Collaborate for Achievement; must interact with Centers of Expertise worldwide
  • Act with Entrepreneurial Drive –be the driver of process innovation in mobile emission catalysis

We Also Look for…

  • Experience with coating and/or slurry processes preferred
  • Experience in project management, process improvement or capital projects preferred
  • Someone who thinks “outside the box”
